Professional Development & Training:

For Frontline Professionals who work with Newcomers

OCASI Professional Education and Training Program (PET)
The objective of the PET Project is to provide professional development and training for settlement service workers, with a view to increasing skills, knowledge and capacity to deliver client services.

Through the Professional Education and Training (PET) Project, supported by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, OCASI is able to offer support for individual courses, and in-house group training to staff from immigrant services organizations. This funding is available to staff whose positions are funded by CIC and MCI.

OCASI Learn at Work Online Courses
The Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) offers free online courses to help front line settlement workers build skills and capacity to better serve newcomers to Ontario.

Course topics include: prevention of domestic violence, mental health, capacity building with youth, family violence, assessing clients’ employment needs, and immigration and refugee law.
