Raising Public Awareness of Domestic Violence

#Strongerthanyouthink

The Toronto West Local Immigration Partnership (TWLIP) Women Against Violence (WAV) Action Group in collaboration with Toronto Quadrant LIP’s and Toronto Newcomer Office developed the above video that focuses on intimate partner violence. The goal of the video is to raise public awareness of domestic violence using an interactive approach in the video that relays questions for the audience of their experiences.
This video will be launched on December 6, 2020, on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. Established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, December 6 marks the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal. They died because they were women. The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is about remembering all the victims and survivor of gender-based violence; it is also a time to take action, #strongerthanyouthink
As we commemorate the 14 young women whose lives ended in an act of gender-based violence; December 6 represents an opportunity for us to reflect on violence against women in our society and intentionally create opportunities to support Women, Two-Spirit, and Gender-diverse people. Our Action Group’s mandate “Gender Based Violence is Everyone’s Issue to Address” speaks to the work we continue to do to build capacity of community organizations within our sector..
Please promote the video using the following hashtag #Strongerthanyouthink
