Between 2009 and 2012, Citizenship and Immigration Canada funded neighbourhood-based Local Immigration Partnerships in seventeen areas of Toronto. In 2012, the neighbourhood LIPs were consolidated into regional (quadrant) LIPs.
Four of these neighbourhood LIPs were amalgamated to form the Toronto West LIP.
